A heavyweight semi-final clash headlines the 2025/26 MTN FA Cup this weekend, as two-time champions Medeama SC face former winners Dreams FC at the Swedru Sports Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

With both sides carrying strong cup pedigrees and continental ambitions, the tie promises a fiercely contested battle for a place in the final, one that could define their seasons.

Dreams FC arrive in a confident mood after an impressive run through the competition. The 2022/23 FA Cup champions have blended resilience with attacking intent, opening their campaign with a commanding victory over Semper Fi FC before easing past Asanska FC 2-0.

Their most eye-catching display came in a thrilling 4-2 win over Inter Allies at the Tuba Astroturf, a six-goal spectacle that underlined their attacking firepower.

In the quarter-finals, they again showed their mettle, edging past Heart of Lions on penalties after a tense and evenly matched contest at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Under head coach Winfred Dormon, Dreams FC have steadily built momentum, combining organisation with flair as they target a return to continental football via the CAF Confederation Cup.

Medeama, however, bring their own pedigree and experience to the contest, setting the stage for a high-stakes encounter between two sides with genuine title aspirations.

Tribute to Frimpong

Beyond the on-field drama, this weekend’s fixtures will also carry a solemn note, following the Ghana Football Association’s announcement of a tribute to the late Dominic Frimpong of Berekum Chelsea, who was on loan from Aduana FC.

In a statement, the GFA confirmed that all players and team officials involved in this weekend’s matches would wear black armbands as a mark of respect. A minute’s silence will also be observed before kick-off at each venue.

The tribute will be observed across the MTN FA Cup semi-finals, as well as the Women’s Premier League final, ensuring a unified moment of remembrance across Ghana football.
