The 2026-27 squad is made up of three Cricket Australia contracted players, four rookies and 19 on the primary list.

Pace bowler Kieran Elliot joins WA, the state in which he made his Sheffield Shield debut against in 2024, from Tasmania.

Elliot took 10 wickets at 38.60 from four Sheffield Shield outings for Tasmania in 2025-26.

His full set of skills were on display in a Shield outing against South Australia in February 2025, taking career-best figures of 6-23.

Fresh from making his One-Day Cup debut against Tasmania in February, allrounder Will Malajczuk has received his maiden state contract.

The 18-year-old made a quickfire 23 on that occasion, before taking two wickets in his second One-Day Cup outing against Victoria less than a fortnight later.

Prior to his One-Day Cup debut, Malajczuk belted the fastest century off just 51 balls in the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup against Japan in January.

Less than a month after helping University secure a second consecutive Premier Cricket title, opening batter Tom Murray has also earned his first state contract.

Murray an impressive four Premier Cricket centuries in season 2025-26, including an unbeaten 132 in the semi-final against Mount Lawley.

His Premier Cricket form was complemented by three half-centuries from as many Toyota Second XI outings for WA.

Fast bowlers Jhye Richardson and Lance Morris return from the Cricket Australia contract list.

Simon Budge, Albert Esterhuysen, Jordan Quiggin and Corey Wasley retain their rookie list spots.

Reigning Laurie Sawle Medallist Cameron Gannon has returned to Queensland for family reasons, while fellow fast bowler Matt Kelly will direct his focus to playing white-ball cricket.

Baxter Holt, Teague Wyllie, Bryce Jackson and Keaton Critchell weren’t offered contracts for season 2026-27.

WA Cricket General Manager – High Performance Cricket and Elite Teams Kade Harvey said he welcomed the new additions to the squad.

“We feel now is an opportune time to welcome some fresh faces into the squad after a season that did not play out how we would’ve liked.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kieran Elliot into the program, and we feel he will complement our existing fast bowlers nicely.

“There’s no denying Will Malajczuk’s talents and we are really excited at what he has to offer with both bat and ball.

“Tom Murray’s form at both Premier Cricket and Toyota Second XI level this season was exemplary and he deserves his opportunity to represent WA.

“We would like to thank Cameron, Baxter, Teague, Bryce and Keaton for their considerable contributions to WA Cricket and wish them well in their future endeavours.

“Cameron has made a profound impact in a short space of time in WA and it was really pleasing to see that recognised in the form of a Laurie Sawle Medal last season.”
