Live: White Ferns v South Africa Women - first ODI

Maddy Green's half-century has steered the White Ferns to a challenging total in their first one-dayer against South Africa at Christchurch's Hagley Oval.

Batting first, the NZ women were dismissed for 268 runs on the last ball of their 50 overs, with Green's 85 of 83 balls leading the way.

The innings was meandering, when Green and wicketkeeper Izzy Gaze came together for a 70-run partnership that upped the scoring rate.

Ayabona Khaka was the best of the Proteas bowlers, taking 6/56 off her 10 overs, including the last five wickets - three in the final over - and the prized scalp of Ferns skipper Melie Kerr.
