1 Senior Day Victory Over Midland

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's tennis team soared to a 6-1 senior day victory over Midland on Saturday afternoon at the Koch Family Tennis Center.

The Bluejays improved to 11-8 on the year, while the Warriors fell to 3-8 overall.

Seniors Kirtan Patel and Yuma Daijima teamed up to open doubles play with a 6-1 victory on the No. 1 doubles court, moments before senior Zachary Kuo and freshman Mathis Dahler combined for a 6-0 win at the No. 2 doubles spot to clinch the first point of the match.

The Bluejays continued to carry momentum into singles play, quickly capturing the victory with straight set victories on the No. 2 through No. 6 singles courts.

Dahler quickly grew Creighton's advantage to 2-0, claiming a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 4 singles slot, while Jack McMahon posted an identical 6-0, 6-0 victory on the No. 6 singles court to give the Jays a 3-0 lead.

Kuo then clinched the overall dual for the Bluejays with a 6-1, 6-3 straight sets win on the No. 3 singles courts, before Patel captured a similar 6-1, 6-2 win at the No. 2 singles slot. The Jays didn't stop there as Daijima closed out the win with a 6-2, 6-0 victory on the No. 5 singles to put the Jays up 6-0.

Midland's lone win of the afternoon came on the top singles court as Martin Cisneros rallied from a one-set deficit to defeat Lucas Mommessin, 1-6, 6-3, 10-7.

The Bluejays will play their final six matches of the regular season on the road, starting with a match at Abilene Christian on March 28 at 3 p.m.
