Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced that new venues will be included in next year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL), signaling plans to expand the tournament.

Speaking to the media, Mohsin Naqvi thanked the people of Lahore and praised cricket fans for their discipline and enthusiasm during the final. He said the atmosphere at Gaddafi Stadium was exceptional, with fans showing strong passion and energy.

Naqvi said he was impressed by the love for cricket shown by Lahore’s residents. He added that fans supported both teams openly and fully enjoyed the match, demonstrating their deep connection with the sport.

His remarks come after the PSL 11 final, where a full crowd was allowed following special approval from the government, despite earlier restrictions due to fuel-saving measures.

Earlier in the tournament, matches were limited to only two cities, Lahore and Karachi, and were initially played without spectators due to a national fuel shortage linked to global energy disruptions.

Naqvi also explained that obtaining permission for crowds was difficult, as the Prime Minister of Pakistan wanted to reduce fuel consumption. However, he noted that the Prime Minister also had a personal interest in allowing spectators and ultimately approved attendance for the final.

The PCB chairman emphasized that PSL 12 will be bigger and better than the current edition. His statement aligns with broader PCB plans to grow the league, which has already expanded from six to eight teams and aims to increase its global standing.
