Barry Ferguson makes furious Rangers confession over Celtic ticket row as true motives questioned

The call on the ticket allocation for Celtic Park has been taken to the SPFL

Irked Barry Ferguson admits he will be "absolutely raging" if Rangers fans are locked out of Celtic Park for the final derby clash of the season and insists they MUST get their allocation.

Celtic announced they were withholding the 2,200 allocation the Light Blues were expected to receive following shameful scenes at the end of March's Scottish Cup penalty shoot-out win at Ibrox.

It comes as a result of Hoops chiefs wanting to deny the Union Bears entry to Celtic Park following the ugly scenes, which saw the Ibrox ultras' group invade the pitch and confront Celtic fans in the away end.

The group also clashed with stewards and police, while a Celtic staff member was allegedly assaulted.

Celtic requested the Light Blues don't sell their allocation to the group, and after Rangers refusal the full allocation was pulled.

The row has been taken to the SPFL with an independent sub-committee set to make a decision when they meet on Thursday.

Speaking to the Five Stars podcast, legendary Ibrox captain and Record Sport columnist Ferguson felt his old club would be hard done by having given the Hoops support their agreed Ibrox allocation in the Premiership in the last league derby clash.

He said: “I’d be absolutely raging if you don’t get that 2500 allocation. There’s an agreement in place. You’ve got to get the tickets. Rangers have got to get the tickets, plain and simple.”

Ibrox legend and fellow pundit Ian Durrant branded Celtic's actions "ridiculous" - as he questioned the true motives of the Hoops.

He said: "Celtic are saying they don’t want a certain element – the Union Bears. Everybody is going to have to write their names down and say, ‘I’m not in the Union Bears’, to get a ticket. It’s ridiculous.

“Celtic are now pleasing themselves because they don’t want a crowd there. It’s helping them but you are depriving people of going to watch their team.

“It’s quite sad in this day and age, considering we bent over backwards to accommodate 7,500 at Ibrox. It could have been 8,000 with the way they all ran in the doors, right enough. We can accommodate them, but they can’t accommodate us? It’s quite sad.”
