The Holyhead's assistant manager Melissa Rhule says they are hoping to make £25,000 from food and drink sales today.

"We’ve put so much into this: decorated, brought in plastic cups, moved more furniture outside, reduced the food menu to make it quicker," she said.

"This kind of event is so important for a pub like ours. We are a city pub. It means so much."

Such a privilege to be covering this parade and, after such a season, the fans have turned out in their hundreds to celebrate this team.

Reminder: Last entry to War Memorial Park

People travelling around Coventry today are advised to plan ahead, as roads are busier due to the parade, with rolling road closures, external in place.

Roads around the War Memorial Park are currently flooded with people making their way to the park.

As a heads up, there is a cut-off to get inside the park for the promotion party - with no entry permitted after 15:00.

There's also no on-site parking at the park itself, but the city council says all of its car parks will be open and free all day.

Some local bus services, external are also operating more frequently,

Absolute scenes from the first hour

Coventry is a sea of sky blue - from all the shirts, flags and smoke.

Thousands of fans are cheering their heroes on as the parade winds its way to its finish, at Hearsall Common - before everyone decamps to the War Memorial Park.

Dave and TS are both recipients of our CWR bucket hats - both season ticket holders and waxed lyrically about 1987, the year of the famous FA Cup win, and the journey it’s taken for the Sky Blues to make it back to the big time.

“Fantastic day for the city, for the football club, for everybody," they said. "Whether you’re a football fan or not, it’s just great to be here celebrating our fantastic team.”

'Can’t imagine how it will get any louder!'

We've heard from Dave Lumb, who is on the route and excitement is building for the Coventry bus: "People just starting to line Moseley Avenue in Coventry in anticipation of the bus arriving.

"The droning from the vuvuzelas is excruciating. Lots of excitement though!"

While Nat Craig at the Wallace pub says: "Everyone is geared up and the horns are blowing, you can barely hear yourself think the atmosphere is incredible now!

"All that’s needed is the bus. Can’t imagine how it will get any louder at the Wallace!"

Will Oelrich is also there for CWR and says: "Word has got to the people at The Wallace that it's ahead of schedule.

"The streets are lined in Sky Blues shirts, scarfs and flares… the roadblocks have began and the fans are beginning to feel the excitement!"

'What a time to be alive'

The city is beginning to get busy as fans line the streets, eager to secure a spot along the parade route.

Karen Akerman, Mark Akerman and Pauline Sivorn are among them.

"I have been following them 55 years but this is the first year I've had a season ticket - What a time to be alive," they said.

"Super Franky Lampard!”

Here's how that looked, at about 13:00 - the party is under way!

For those who are looking out for the bus in the city, it appears to be about 15 minutes ahead of schedule - but that could change as it goes on, be aware.

Adam Blinco is on Holbrook Lane on his way to see the parade from the Unicorn social club.

The season ticket holder says: “what a season, couldn’t ask for anymore!”

He’s planning to then get to the concert in the park.

While Bilkiss Navsarka and nephew Haroon Mota are waiting the parade outside the DKYC Cafe on Holbrook Lane.

They say it’s an historical moment, Haroon adding that it’s an important day for the city and he was at the last game Coventry played at their old ground. Highfield Road.

Ikbal Singh Chagger, from Ernesford Grange, is outside the Hollybush Pub in Holbrooks: “Let’s bring on Man Utd and Liverpool!”
