Let’s be honest, it wouldn’t be a major sporting occasion without one of our live blogs, and after a sedate start the National Games kicks into high gear on Wednesday, so here we are.

There is more sport than you could shake a non-dolphin-like mascot at, and some of Hong Kong’s best will enter the fray over the course of the next several hours.

In no particular order, the city’s athletes are involved in badminton, baseball, swimming, dressage and there is also the small matter of the rugby sevens which gets started at Kai Tak this afternoon.

Swimmers Adam Mak Sai-ting and Siobhan Haughey have already been in action in the heats for the men’s 50m breaststroke and women’s 200m freestyle respectively, and will race in their semi-finals tonight.

We should also discover who Coleman Wong Chak-lam, Zheng Qinwen and a host of other tennis stars play in their first-round matches this week, while our co-hosts Guangdong are involved in not one but two team finals – men’s basketball and under-20 football, in case you were wondering – so strap in and follow us for live coverage of day three.
