With the Dallas Mavericks searching for a Nico Harrison replacement, several notable executives across the league are getting linked to the vacancy. One prominent name is closely connected to the Philadelphia 76ers (and no, it’s not Daryl Morey or Elton Brand).Former Golden State Warriors executive Bob Myers is “most frequently whispered” as a Mavericks target as their search is ongoing, according to The Stein Line.Myers left the Warriors, stepping down as the President of Basketball Operations in 2023. He took up a post-exec career in broadcasting, before joining the Philadelphia 76ers’ managing group in a President role of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment. The Latest Link Between Bob Myers And The Mavericks“League sources tell The Stein Line that the most frequently whispered Dallas target from that category is actually former Golden State Warriors lead executive Bob Myers, who would naturally have Welts’ strong backing after their successful years together with the Warriors. Yet Myers currently holds an extremely lucrative job as president for Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment that calls for him to provide high-level consulting for all of the pro sports franchises in the HBSE portfolio. That includes the New Jersey Devils (NHL) and Crystal Palace Football Club (English Premier League) in addition to the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers … with Myers also part of the hierarchy with the Josh Harris-owned Washington Commanders (NFL).” via The Stein LineThe Mavericks cut ties with Nico Harrison back in November.Just last season, Harrison became an infamous figure around the NBA–especially in Dallas–after he struck a trade that moved Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Mavericks landed a star-quality player in Anthony Davis, but his frequent injuries just piled on concerns for Harrison as the leader of the front office. Eventually, the Mavericks had enough, and declared the end of Harrison’s tenure before the new year.In April, the Mavericks haven’t officially named a replacement. All signs are pointing to Dallas reaching for the stars as the offseason approaches. In addition to Myers, Brad Stevens of the Boston Celtics and Sam Presti of the Oklahoma City Thunder have both been mentioned as targets for the Mavs. The interest level from the non-Dallas side of all parties mentioned is currently unclear. The Effect On The 76ersBob Myers doesn’t run 76ers basketball operations. That job is for Daryl Morey and Elton Brand. However, Myers has been mentioned as a possible target for the 76ers in the past in the event they make a major front office shakeup. So far, the Sixers aren’t known to be operating as if Morey is on the hot seat. The 2026 NBA postseason will be critical for the Sixers’ front office and coaching staff. After years of making it to the second round of the playoffs, the Sixers have failed to get to the Eastern Conference Finals. In 2023-2024 (Nick Nurse’s first season as head coach), the Sixers lost 4-2 in the first round to the New York Knicks. In 2024-2025, the Sixers failed to make the Play-In Tournament. On April 1, the Sixers are seventh in the Eastern Conference. They might have to compete in the Play-In for the second time in three years. If the Sixers can’t capitalize on having one of the most expensive rosters in the league, it could put the coach and executives in danger. Whether Myers would be open to another front office job or not is unknown. But the Mavericks sure seem interested in gauging his interest.
