Talent shines at Isle of Wight Primary Schools Football Finals

The Isle of Wight Primary Schools Football Finals kicked off with a series of thrilling matches at Cowes Enterprise College.

In the U-11 Girls' Cup final, federated schools Carisbrooke and Newport clashed, with Carisbrooke emerging victorious.

Goals from Stephanie Ewaregbemi, Bethany Scott, and Myla-Rae Ringer sealed a 3-0 win for Carisbrooke.

The U-11 Boys' Rural Cup saw Shalfleet taking on Gatten and Lake.

Rafe Packham's goal gave Shalfleet the lead at the break, with Baxter Amiger doubling the advantage in the second half.

William Davis's fine free-kick reduced the deficit for Gatten and Lake, but Amiger's second goal on a counter-attack secured a 3-1 win for Shalfleet.

In the U-11 Boys' Cup, Greenmount faced off against Ryde School.

Despite some excellent saves by Greenmount goalkeeper Ralph Farman, Ryde's Harry Winton scored twice before the break.

Greenmount had some chances in the second half, but Winton's curled finish for a hat-trick and a goal by Matthew Bond secured a 4-0 win for Ryde.

The final match of the opening night saw Gurnard face The Bay in the U-9 Boys Cup final.

Gurnard's Vicente and Jude gave their team an early lead, and although The Bay's Felix Spence pulled one back, Gurnard secured a 3-1 victory with Harrison's well-placed finish.

The second set of fixtures saw Ryde School face Greenmount in the U-9 Girls Cup.

Despite determined play from Ryde School, high-quality finishing from Darcie Saunders and Skylar Emery-Raftery saw Greenmount win.

The U-10 Boys' Cup offered a closely fought encounter between The Bay and Newport.

Newport took the lead with Milo Cooper's strike, but Logan Woodford equalised for The Bay in the second half.

Newport's Arlo Bast scored the winner with the last kick of the game, giving Newport a 2-1 victory.
