Three sporting events to watch this week: Your handy guide to sport on television

Tennis

It’s the final week of the first Grand Slam tournament of the year. The time-difference doesn’t suit tennis fans in Europe, but at least the Australian Open singles finals are at a (somewhat) reasonable hour – the women’s decider will be Saturday morning at about 8.30am Irish time, with the men’s final at the same time on Sunday. – until February 1st, TNT Sports

Racing

The two-day Dublin Racing Festival takes place at Leopardstown at the weekend. Saturday afternoon features four Grade One races, including the Irish Gold Cup, with another four Grade Ones the following day, including the Irish Champion Hurdle. – Saturday & Sunday, RTÉ

Soccer

The Women’s Super League in England has been dominated by Chelsea for the past decade, with the London club claiming eight top-flight titles in 10 years. This season, however, Manchester City have been setting the pace, topping the table just past the halfway point of the season. At the weekend they host a London side who are in the hunt for their seventh title in a row. It’s a huge game. – Sunday, BBC
