Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique is one of the candidates linked with becoming Manchester United’s head coach at the end of the season.

Ever since January 5th, when Ruben Amorim was sacked as Manchester United head coach, there has been speculation over who will lead the team next season and beyond.

The first top contender was Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, but the Eagles have since completely lost any momentum they had in the Premier League.

Glasner is one of several options, even if his reputation has taken a hit in recent weeks. The biggest threat to other candidates now is Michael Carrick, who was appointed head coach until the end of the season.

Man Utd have ALREADY got more points than 2024/25 with 13 games to go!

How many points will we end up with in 2025/26?

United are looking to extend their four-match winning streak under Carrick when they travel to West Ham in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

If United keep winning football matches and secure qualification for the Champions League, Carrick will be in contention for the head coach role beyond this season.

Enrique has been mentioned as a possible candidate, along with Germany’s Julian Nagelsmann, but there’s plenty of time remaining in Carrick’s tenure.

Respected journalist Gabriele Marcotti has weighed in on the United head coach debate surrounding Enrique, but he has urged caution that the former Barcelona manager likes to do things his own way rather than move to Old Trafford and take instructions from the likes of Jason Wilcox.

Appearing on the United United United podcast, Marcotti said: “The guy [Luis Enrique] does things his own way, that can be difficult, the guy can be odd, I don’t know if dropping him into an environment like Manchester United and a rebuild really makes any sense.

“Tremendous manager… would he be better than Amorim, yes, but too many things that can go wrong.”

Luis Enrique has been a success everywhere he has been…

Enrique could silence all reports about moving to United by signing a new deal at PSG.

PSG are first in Ligue 1 and could win back-to-back Champions League titles this season.

Man Utd urged to do forensic research on Michael Carrick

Carrick could be the obvious option if United can keep winning football matches.

The 44-year-old has a strong bond with the Old Trafford faithful, who are rallying behind him in each game.

When asked about Carrick, Marcotti warned that United need to do forensic research on his time at Middlesbrough, saying: “I would go back and forensically look back on his time at Middlesbrough, that is his body of work.”

The biggest test for Carrick now is ensuring United can clinch a top-four spot.
