Barcelona travelled to Madrid for a crucial Copa del Rey semi-final against Atletico Madrid, but the build-up to the match was also affected by off-field developments.

One of the main talking points was Real Madrid’s recent step back from the controversial Super League project, a topic that naturally drew questions from the media.

At the centre of attention was Barcelona’s acting president, Rafa Yuste, who is currently overseeing the club’s operations until the next presidential elections.

With Joan Laporta not leading the trip, it was Yuste who headed the delegation and travelled with the squad to the Spanish capital.

Notably, the Barcelona expedition arrived in Madrid last night. While there were some notable absences due to injury, the spotlight, therefore, shifted to the club’s acting president upon arrival.

Yuste on Super League abandonment

Waiting journalists were keen to hear Barcelona’s official reaction to Real Madrid’s latest development regarding the Super League.

Yuste, however, chose a calm and measured approach, keeping his response short and focused on the team’s immediate priorities.

When asked about Real Madrid’s situation, he made it clear that Barcelona had already expressed their position.

He stressed the importance of unity in Spanish football rather than reopening old debates.

“We have already given our version. Nothing more to say. Let’s focus on tomorrow’s game.“

He then added, “It’s good that there is unity in Spanish football.”

Yuste also took a moment to reassure fans about the team’s journey, which was not entirely smooth.

The flight to Madrid experienced some turbulence, but he confirmed that the squad arrived without any issues.

“We landed very well, despite the turbulence, but everyone here is safe and sound,” said Yuste.
