Suleman’s Double Century, Samad’s Heroics Headline Day 2 of Hanif Mohammad Trophy 2025

Day two of the third round of the Hanif Mohammad Trophy witnessed a standout double century from Hyderabad's Mohammad Suleman, as play finally began in all three Group B matches after rain wiped out day one.

Group A

At the Abbasia Sports Complex in Rahim Yar Khan, Hyderabad resumed on 283-7 and were eventually dismissed for 480 in 122.3 overs.

Mohammad Suleman, unbeaten on 157 overnight, went on to post a brilliant 273 off 347 balls, hammering 36 fours and three sixes. His 230-run stand for the eighth wicket with Jawad Ali (72 off 150 balls, 5 fours, 6 sixes) proved pivotal in taking Hyderabad to a commanding total.

Quetta’s Mohammad Ibrahim Snr claimed a five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 5-117 in 32 overs.

In response, Quetta ended the day on 137-5 in 41.2 overs, with skipper Abdul Wahid Bangalzai anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 50 off 118 balls, including nine boundaries.

Jawad Ali also starred with the ball, picking up 3-22 in his 9.2 overs.

At the Multan Cricket Stadium, Faisalabad’s Abdul Samad converted his overnight 103 into a monumental 191 off 310 balls, hitting 15 fours and five sixes as his side posted 387 in 123.5 overs after resuming from 253-5.

He shared a crucial 117-run partnership with captain Ali Shan (61 off 140 balls, 7 fours).

Karachi Whites, in reply, slumped from 74-2 to 127-7 at stumps after 38 overs. Ahmed Safi Abdullah (3-33) and Shehzad Gul (2-20) shared five wickets between them to put Faisalabad firmly in control.

Over at Dring Stadium in Bahawalpur, Lahore Blues’ Umar Siddiq stood tall with an unbeaten 121 off 208 deliveries, laced with 11 boundaries, helping his team to 243-6 in 70 overs and establishing a 145-run lead over Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Earlier in the day, AJK were bowled out for 169 in 55 overs after resuming on 161-8.

Arslan Mehzood played a lone hand, scoring an unbeaten 51 off 87 balls (6 fours), helping AJK gain a 98-run lead in the first innings.

Group B

Following a rain-affected first day, Multan made strong progress at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi, reaching 286-5 in 104 overs.

Imam-ul-Haq struck 70 off 104 deliveries (6 fours, 1 six), while Imran Rafiq (65* off 199 balls) and Arafat Minhas (52* off 136 balls) also posted half-centuries.

Rawalpindi’s Mubasir Khan was the pick of the bowlers with 4-80 in 31 overs.

At the National Bank Stadium, only 45 overs were possible due to rain, with Dera Murad Jamali reaching 146-7 after choosing to bat.

Meanwhile, at the SBP Sports Complex, Larkana reached 99-4 after being asked to bat first by FATA in a rain-shortened 50-over day.
