The third time was the charm for Carlos Alcaraz to reach the semi-finals of the 2026 Australian Open.

Playing his third consecutive quarter-final at Melbourne Park, the world No. 1 finally advanced to the next round as he defeated sixth seed Alex de Minaur 7-5, 6-2, 6-1 on Tuesday (27 January).

Alcaraz fended off a bright start from Australia's top-ranked tennis player to claim the 58-minute opening set, and was not broken again all evening.

The Spaniard's reward for a sixth consecutive win over de Minaur is a semi-final showdown with Olympic gold medallist Alexander Zverev.
