Sania Mirza discussed struggles and growth with Farah Khan

During a chat on her podcast ‘Serving It Up with Sania’, the tennis player reflected on how perceptions of success and struggle have changed over time. Farah responded by sharing her thoughts on society’s fascination with struggle stories and the challenges of financial hardship, “I think today everyone wants a struggle story even people who don't have a struggle they are making a struggle story of some very weird thing. I think today everything is about having a struggle, and I'm fine, my kids don't have one, your child will not have one. Financial struggle is the most obvious struggle and the most difficult one because then you are not free to pursue what you want, it's only about getting through that day or getting through that month. ”

Farah reflected on children’s changing experiences

The ‘Main Hoon Na’ director then spoke about how separation and divorce are now more normalised in children’s lives compared to the past, “We couldn't call our friends or even in school say that my parents are separated. It was a very big those times were also very different. Now I see in my children's school it's so normalised because every second person is coming from a broken home. However much you normalise it, a child always gets affected. ” Sania responded by emphasising the importance of making the best choice for the child, even if it is difficult, “A child will get affected anyway, so you have to understand and choose what you know a better situation. If a child is going to see two people that are extremely unhappy then there are certain calls that need to be taken, but if you have a place where you are like, we can fake it you are kidding yourself because the child understands. ”

I think nothing is more difficult than being a single mom. For you to do it alone, because you will also have to work and give him your time. I have seen you go through your worst, but since I know you, I have seen your highest high and your lowest low, and I think you have handled both of them equally well. ” Sania acknowledged the difficulty, highlighting the personal journey and the need to make tough decisions, “It is very very hard and we all have our journeys and we all have to choose what is best.”

If you had not come there… I was shivering. And if you had not come there, I wouldn’t have done that show, you told me, ‘No matter what, you are doing this show. ’” Farah recalled witnessing that moment and stepping in to help her friend, “I got so scared.
