Delhi Capitals batter David Miller was visibly shattered after his side suffered a heartbreaking one-run defeat against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026. In a video shared by Delhi Capitals on social media, Miller could be seen in tears following the narrow loss, highlighting the emotional toll of the dramatic finish. Delhi appeared to be in control towards the end, with Miller striking crucial boundaries and rapidly bringing down the equation. However, the game turned in the final over bowled by Prasidh Krishna.

Miller made a bold call on the second-last ball, refusing a single to retain strike. But the decision added pressure. On the final delivery, with two runs needed, he failed to connect with a slower ball and attempted a desperate run. Jos Buttler’s sharp work resulted in a run-out at the striker’s end, leaving Kuldeep Yadav short and Delhi agonisingly close at 209/8 while chasing 211.

Another Close-Call for Miller

Widely regarded as one of the most dangerous finishers in world cricket, Miller has, however, found himself on the wrong side of several close chases in recent years.

41 (20) vs GT (IPL 2026):* Took the game deep but couldn’t finish; DC lost by 1 run.

21 (17) vs India (T20 World Cup 2024 Final): Fell to a stunning boundary catch; South Africa lost by 7 runs.

106 (47) vs India (T20I, 2022):* Brilliant century in a 238 chase, but SA fell short by 16 runs.

How the match unfolded Earlier, Gujarat Titans posted a strong total of 210/4, thanks to key contributions from Jos Buttler (52), Shubman Gill (70) and Washington Sundar (55). Buttler’s aggressive start, including multiple sixes, set the tone, while Gill and Sundar kept the momentum going. In response, Delhi Capitals got off to a solid start with KL Rahul (92) and Pathum Nissanka (41) building a strong opening partnership. However, Rashid Khan’s three wickets in the middle overs shifted the momentum. Despite Miller’s late heroics, including a big penultimate over, Delhi couldn’t cross the line. The result marked Gujarat’s first win of the season, while Delhi suffered their first defeat after a promising start.
