Manchester United failed to take their opportunity to make it five wins in a row in the Premier League by drawing against West Ham.

Michael Carrick’s winning streak at Manchester United has been ended by a 1-1 draw against West Ham at the London Stadium.

However, the Red Devils were seconds away from suffering defeat before super-substitute Benjamin Sesko salvaged a point with an injury-time goal.

Manchester United have drawn 1-1 vs West Ham – What is your INSTANT REACTION?

The winning streak is over… but we stay unbeaten!

United’s miserable record at the London Stadium has been extended, but rescuing a late point means that Michael Carrick’s side stay fourth in the Premier League table.

Tired legs

For the first time under Carrick, United did not have a full week to rest before their next match. The West Ham clash came just three days after the 2-0 win over Tottenham, and fatigue played a factor at the London Stadium.

United were lethargic and unable to inject energy into their performance. It doesn’t help that West Ham defended deep and frustrated the Red Devils, but it is up to the players to dig deep and add energy, and it simply didn’t happen.

There is now a two-week break until the next league fixture, and Carrick will be eager for his players to recharge their batteries over the break.

Struggling against a low-block

One theme under Ruben Amorim was United often dominating possession but struggling to break down a defence that is happy to sit deep.

That is precisely what Nuno Espirito Santo’s side did, and the performance that followed was reminiscent of an Amorim side.

Unchanged by Michael Carrick, is this the right call?

The free-flowing football that has been so enjoyable under Carrick in recent weeks was nowhere to be seen because there was no space to operate for United’s attacking players.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka continues to haunt Man United

Ever since Aaron Wan-Bissaka was sold for £15 million, he has frustratingly performed brilliantly against his former side.

Wan-Bissaka has haunted United before, and nothing was new at the London Stadium. The Red Devils nearly took the lead through Luke Shaw from a well-worked corner routine, only for Wan-Bissaka to block the ball on the goal line.

United fans are more familiar than most with Wan-Bissaka’s freakish defensive abilities, and they were unfortunately on full display here.

Harry Maguire avoids injury scare

In the first half, Harry Maguire reached for his hamstring after making a vital tackle on Crycensio Summerville.

Considering Maguire’s solid partnership with Lisandro Martinez in recent weeks, it was a scary sight for United fans.

But the 32-year-old thankfully was able to continue. With Matthijs de Ligt injured already, it was a small positive from an otherwise frustrating game.

Benjamin Sesko continues streak

Sesko is still yet to start a match under Carrick, but he has produced some brilliant moments in recent weeks.

After scoring a last-minute winner against Fulham, Sesko came off the bench to rescue a vital point with a brilliant finish.

It was Sesko’s seventh goal of the season and fourth in his last five games.
