Atlético Madrid star Julián Alvarez has provided his take on being left off the list of nominees for FIFA’s ‘The Best’ award for 2025.

The Argentine, however, appears largely unbothered.

The shortlist of candidates for ‘The Best’ awards was unveiled earlier this week, with headline names from across the continent featuring front and centre.

Alvarez, however, was nowhere to be seen.

As much sparked a major backlash in Spain’s capital, with the former Manchester City man fresh off a stellar debut campaign in Atlético colours.

As alluded to above, though, Alvarez himself does not appear overly fussed.

Drawn on his ‘The Best’ exclusion during an interview with L’Equipe (as cited by Mundo Deportivo) late this week, the talented frontman moved to play the subject down:

“I took it very calmly. Obviously, it’s an honour to be among the 30 best players in the world and to attend such an important event. It means you’re doing things right. I’m proud, but I’m not worried about not being among the 30 nominees; I’m doing what I’m passionate about. I don’t need praise to be happy. Playing football is enough for me.”
