England's Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell let off with warning over New Zealand nightclub altercation

England white-ball captain Harry Brook and all-rounder Jacob Bethell have escaped with a warning following an investigation into an altercation with a nightclub bouncer in ‌New Zealand late ⁠last year.

Brook, who had initially ‌said he was alone ‌in the altercation in Wellington after being denied entry into a nightclub, admitted in ‌January he lied to protect his ⁠teammates.

The incident, in which Brook was struck by the bouncer, occurred the night before an ODI on November 1.

An investigation was launched by the Cricket Regulator, an independent body responsible for "monitoring compliance with the game's regulations".

The Cricket Regulator said ‌Brook and Bethell ‌accepted they breached the professional conduct ‌regulations.

"As a consequence of those investigations, the Regulator has issued a caution notice to Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell in relation to their conduct during that night," a Cricket Regulator statement read.

England fast bowler Josh ⁠Tongue was also present during the incident.

"No further action is to be taken by ⁠the Regulator in relation to Josh ‌Tongue," ‌the Cricket Regulator said.

Tongue was not in the England squad for the ODI against New Zealand.

But he had been training with the squad ahead of the Ashes, which England lost 4-1.
